Naturally, human beings are always working to make their life more sophisticated and we always desire for more and more facilities. This is why, population density are thicker in the town or road side where more facilities for living are available rather then the village and hill regions. So likely, most of the school, hospital and other offices are situated at the edge of highway in many part of Nepal.
As, we can see there are many schools at the edge of Prithivi
Highway (Naubise – Pokhara road) as well as other highways in Nepal.
Many children have to cross the busy highway in order to go to
school and the innocent children do not have many ideas about
crossing the busy road. Many places, there is neither a Zebra Cross
nor a traffic police but one can encounter many turnings and other
hindrance. People have to bear the risk of their life whilst
crossing the highway and the drivers are also not seems being
careful whilst they are driving with the speed of 50 – 70 KM per
hour.
Number of accident has been recorded in the Highway of Nepal where
most of the victims are innocent children. Keeping this in mind we
have installed few ‘Drive Slow’ road board in various places of the
Prithvi Highway to bring the awareness among the drivers. This was
the very beginning work of COYON and we are planning to extend this
work are far as our resource permits.
