Happy Home in Benighat is a modern residence for abandoned, orphaned, and homeless children. It has a large kitchen, multiple hot water toilets, a library, a recreational area, and a space for volunteers. It's been operating since 2012 and currently houses 30 children.
"Happy Home" is a family home for children that is managed by COYON with the help of Hanuman Onlus, Italy. The home was built after several years of planning and fundraising and was officially opened on October, 2012, in the village of Benighat, located about three hours west of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The facility provides a welcoming and comfortable environment for abandoned, orphaned, and homeless children, some of whom are already part of the "Happy Child" distance support project.
The home has a large kitchen, multiple bedrooms, bathroom facilities with hot water available year-round, a library for after-school activities, a recreational area for leisure, and a space for volunteers. It can accommodate up to 60 children at full capacity. The first group of children was admitted to "Happy Home" in January 2013. Since then, the number of children has been increasing, and there are now 35 children living in the Happy Home.
The children were thrilled to experience a level of comfort they were not previously accustomed to.
